AC21 International Forum

Every two years AC21 organizes the AC21 International Forum to evaluate results, discuss future planning and to reassess the roles of universities in a changing society.

 

The Fourth AC21 International Forum was held in North Carolina from 28-30 July, 2008. Hosted by one of the leading universities in the United States, North Carolina State University, the forum was ended with a great success and around 120 participants had a fruitful time. The theme for the fourth forum was "University Partnerships: Global Collaboration and Innovation for the 21st Century". The Third International Forum 2006 was held at University of Warwick, which is now one of the UK's leading universities and consistently rated in the top ten for teaching and research, 4-6 July 2006. Nagoya University also co-hosted the Forum. The theme of this Forum was  `Global Education : Universities in the 21st Century`. The Second AC21 International Forum (AC21 International Forum 2004) was held in Sydney from Wednesday 21 to Saturday 24 July 2004. Hosted by Australia's most well respected and prestigious tertiary institution, the University of Sydney, and co-hosted by Nagoya University, the four-day event provided international and Australian academics, government officials, industry professionals, students and the public with a rare opportunity to share information on a wide range of higher education topics and to develop cooperative education programs. The Forum was themed 'Universities, Cities and Society in the 21st Century' and served to reassess the roles of universities in a changing society. The First AC21 International Forum was held by Nagoya University from 22 to 25 June, 2002, in cooperation with Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City. The theme for the first forum was "The University- Architect of the New Century". Representatives from 24 universities and more than 1500 participants from Nagoya University and other institutions gathered. Dr. James J. Duderstadt, President Emeritus and University Professor of Science and Engineering at The University of Michigan and Dr. Shoichiro Toyoda, Honorary President of Toyota Motor Corporation provided lectures.
