Greetings from AC21 General Secretariat!

It was wonderful seeing many of you in North Carolina. The Fourth Forum ended with a great success
and we would like to thank North Carolina State University for all the hard workand for a wonderful

*Welcome to AC21!*

AC21 welcomed a new member, the University of Adelaide from Australia. Pro Vice-Chancellor
(International) John Taplin joined the Forum in North Carolina and all of us arelooking forward to
working closely with the University of Adelaide for many years to come. Professor Taplin will also
contribute an article introducing the University of Adelaide in the next Newsletter. Please read and
learn about the university and what you can do with the new member through the AC21 network.

*AC21 Student World Forum*

The Third Student Forum will be held at Chemnitz University of Technology next year. Call for
students will be announced from AC21 General Secretariat. If you have any questions about the

*Three Nagoya Universitys Alumni receive Nobel Prize in Physics and Chemistry*

Excellent news swept the entire city of Nagoya this week. Nagoya University Alumni, Dr. Toshihide
Masukawa and Dr. Makoto Kobayasi won this years Nobel Prize in Physics, and Nagoya Universitys
former Associate Professor, Osamu Shimomura won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. All Doctors studied
and received PhD from Nagoya University. The entire campus was surrounded by joyof this thrilling
news and congratulated alumnis great achievements. You can check Nagoya Universitys website :
