Monthly Report No.20 (Feb. 17, 2011)
Dear AC21 Members,
We hope that you are all keeping warm during these last few months of winter, and that our Southern Hemisphere friends are keeping cool in these hot summer months.
The February 28th due date for student selection for the 4th AC21 Student World Forum at Chulalongkorn University is fast approaching. Nagoya University had the fortune of receiving many applications this year and had much difficulty in choosing only a few students. Our selected students are remarkable this year in their motivation to learn more about sustainable rural development and their eagerness to meet many other international students.
February 28th is also the due date for submitting reply forms for the AC21 9th Steering Committee Meeting and we once again encourage many of you to join us in this newly amalgamated event. As mentioned previously, not only Steering Committee Members, but all General Assembly members were invited to join this year as observers. Benefits include observing the opening of the Student World Forum, as well as personal tours and special presentations by two of our Thai member universities, Chulalongkorn and Kasetsart. We hope that you will consider taking advantage of this special opportunity to meet two of our long term members in their own home territory.
Coincidentally, the due date for submitting Special Project Fund proposals also happens to be the 28th of February, 2011. We hope that you will consider applying for this grant for your future research projects.
The AC21 general secretariat will be travelling to National Taiwan University for the 2011 APAIE (Asia Pacific Association for International Education) Conference and Exhibition, to be held at the NTU Sports Center from the 8-12 of March. If you plan to attend this conference, AC21 and Nagoya University representatives will be at booth no. 5. Please drop by and pay us a visit!
