Monthly Report No.43 (October 30, 2013)

Dear AC21 Members,

Greetings from the AC21 General Secretariat!

Thank you very much for your continued support of AC21 and its activities. The following are updates and some recent news from AC21.

 1.       The Fifth AC21 Student World Forum (main theme: “Sustainable Mobility and the City of the Future”)

The Fifth AC21 Student World Forum (SWF) was held on October 16-22, 2013, in Shanghai, China. More than 70 students were involved in this forum, hosted by Tongji University, including 38 participating students from 13 member universities and 36 Tongji University student volunteers. The delegates attending the AC21 Steering Committee Meeting and the General Assembly also attended the joint welcome reception with students participating in the SWF 2013 on October 16 and the Opening Ceremony of the SWF 2013 on October 17. The program of the Forum included lectures by professors of Tongji University, student group discussions and presentations, field trips, and social events. The Forum was very successful in deepening the students’ understanding of the main theme of the Forum and the cultures of other countries, and in building international friendships. Please refer to the newsletters written by the Fifth SWF Office of Tongji University for the detailed activities of each day of the Forum. We will inform you of the link to the newsletters shortly.
