 Dear AC21 Members,

 

Thank you very much for your continued support of AC21 and its activities.

The following are updates and some recent news from AC21.

 

 1.       AC21 General Secretariat to Participate in Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) Conference & Exhibition 2014

The AC21 General Secretariat plans to exhibit a joint booth with Nagoya University at the APAIE Conference & Exhibition 2014. The event will be held from March 17 - 20, 2014 at the aT Center, Seoul, Korea. Please see the following link for details: http://www.apaie.org/conference/2014/  If you plan to attend the Conference & Exhibition, feel free to visit our booth (D26). Representatives of both AC21 and Nagoya University will be there.


 2.       The 7th AC21 International Forum 2014 (Main Theme: Science for Society: Higher Education as Builder of Hope)

The 7th AC21 International Forum (IF) 2014 will be held from April 13 - 16, 2014 in Stellenbosch, Republic of South Africa, and will be hosted by Stellenbosch University. We would like you to register for the IF 2014 as soon as possible, if you have not done so already. Abstract submissions for the following sub-themes are still open. The extended deadline for abstracts is February 28, 2014 and final submission of full papers is due March 14, 2014. We would very much appreciate it if you could encourage faculty and staff at your university to submit abstracts and participate in the IF 2014!

²  Creating Networks for Training the Next Generation of Academics

²  Competitive Industry: Higher Education, Research and Innovation

²  Research Outputs, Uptake and Impact on Policy for Development

 3.       The 12th Steering Committee (STC) Meeting and the 7th General Assembly

During the IF 2014, the 12th STC Meeting and the 7th General Assembly will also be hosted by Stellenbosch University on April 13 and 15, respectively. Please mark your calendar for these important dates!

Invitations to these meetings, together with the agenda, should have already been e-mailed to you. Please return the “Reply Forms” for these meetings to the AC21 General Secretariat as soon as possible.


 4.       Next STC Member Election

As approved at the 5th AC21 General Assembly held in June 2012, the next STC member election will take place at the 7th General Assembly. Self-nominations for the three open STC member positions next term closed on February 14, 2014. The AC21 General Secretariat has already e-mailed you the list of all member universities who nominated themselves for the STC positions on February 21, 2014.

 

 

 5.       Self-Nomination for Hosting the AC21 International Forum (IF) in 2018

Based on the discussion at the 6th AC21 General Assembly held on October 17, 2013 at Tongji University, Shanghai, China, we will be open for self-nominations for the host of the "AC21 International Forum (IF) 2018." If your university wishes to become a candidate for hosting, please inform the AC21 General Secretariat by March 10 (Monday), 2014. We plan to select our site at the next AC21 General Assembly.

 

 6.       Academic Calendars of Member Universities

In order to ascertain the best timing for holding AC21 activities for students in the future, Professor Kent Anderson, Pro Vice Chancellor (International) of the University of Adelaide, kindly offered to painstakingly survey the academic calendars of AC21 member universities’ websites, and e-mailed the results to the AC21 communicators of all member universities. If any corrections need to be made to your university’s data, or the information is missing for your university, please inform the AC21 General Secretariat (office@ac21.org) by February 28, 2014. We would like to know the schedules of all our members such that we can effectively choose the best time of the year to hold our events.


 7.       AC21 Special Project Fund 2014

Submissions are currently under review at this time. Thanks to your efforts, we were able to receive many applications! As soon as the final selection results are available, we will inform all the applicants, as well as the AC21 communicators.


 8.       AC21 Newsletter

Volume 17 of the AC21 Newsletter will be published soon. Please look forward to it!
