Monthly Report No.52 (August 29, 2014)

Dear AC21 Members,

Thank you very much for your continued support of AC21 and its activities.

The following are updates and some recent news from AC21.

 1.       Director of the AC21 General Secretariat introduced AC21 at the 1st Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) Academic, Universities and Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Roundtable

AC21 General Secretariat received an invitation to speak at the 1st Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) Academic, Universities and Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Roundtable, which was held at CentralWorld in Bangkok, Thailand on August 20, 2014. This roundtable was a side event of the 15th FEALAC Senior Officials Meeting. FEALAC is an inter-regional multi-lateral organization, launched in 1999 with the aim of increasing inter-regional cooperation and understanding between East Asia and Latin America. Currently, 36 countries in East Asia (16 countries) and Latin America (20 countries) are members of the FEALAC. Prof. Yoshihito Watanabe, Director of the AC21 General Secretariat, was invited by the Thai Government (Office of the Higher Education Commission) to introduce AC21 and its activities during the session “Best Practices on Establishing Academic/Research Network.” Over 120 delegates representing universities, research institutes, Ministries of Education, Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Embassies from ASEAN and Latin American countries attended the session. It was a great honor for AC21 to be invited to such a big event!
