The following are updates and some recent news from AC21.
1. Invitations from Member Universities
1.1. International Staff Training Week Organized by the University of Strasbourg
As indicated in the invitation from the University of Strasbourg to AC21 member universities, forwarded by the AC21 General Secretariat on September 16, 2014, the University of Strasbourg welcomes the participation of colleagues (teaching and non-teaching staff) from AC21 member universities in its “1st International Staff Training Week” to be held from November 17 to 21, 2014. A detailed preliminary program and the application form can be accessed from the link below. If you are interested in participating in this program, please fill in the application form and send it by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The application deadline is October 5, 2014.

1.2. Call for Proposal 2015 “Scientist in Residence Scholarship of Technische Universität Chemnitz”
Technische Universität Chemnitz welcomes applications for the “Scientist in Residence Scholarship of Technische Universität Chemnitz.” The details of this scholarship were sent to AC21 communicators from Technische Universität Chemnitz on September 10, 2014. They can be also viewed on the AC21 website below.
The application deadline is October 31, 2014. We would very much appreciate it if you could forward the invitation to young researchers at your universities and encourage them to apply for this scholarship.
2. “United Nations Day” at Nagoya University
As one of the members of United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), AC21 has received a request to organize an event initiated mainly by students, which celebrates United Nations Day (October 24), from the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Japan, a point of contact for UNAI in Japan. For the publicity of AC21, Nagoya University plans to organize the "United Nations Day" event, which AC21 will support, at Nagoya University on October 21, 2014. The title of the event is “Achieving Well-being for All Beyond 2015.” The AC21 General Secretariat will report on this event in the next AC21 Monthly Report.
3. Sixth AC21 Student World Forum (SWF) 2015 to be hosted by University of Strasbourg and University of Freiburg
We are happy to announce that the Sixth Student World Forum (SWF) 2015 will be held from April 19 - 24, 2015 in Strasbourg, France and Freiburg, Germany. The main theme of the Sixth SWF will be “The European Experience in Local and Regional Democracy.” The 13th STC Meeting, to be hosted by the University of Freiburg, will be held on April 23 and 24, 2015 in Freiburg, Germany. Please mark your calendar with these important dates! We would appreciate it very much if your university could secure a budget in advance for sending your students to the SWF 2015.
4. AC21 Newsletter
Volume 18 of the AC21 Newsletter will be published in October. Please look forward to it! Thank you very much for those who contributed the articles for the Newsletter.
