Monthly Report No.62 (September 24, 2015)

Dear AC21 members,

Greetings from the AC21 General Secretariat!

We hope you all had a great vacation.

Summer's heat and sun are withering away here in Japan but we at the General Secretariat are now enthusiastically busy working on the upcoming issue of the AC21 Newsletter.

Here are our latest updates and news.

1) Application for Special Project Fund (SPF) 2016 starts soon

The General Secretariat will send the SPF guidelines and application form for the 2016 round to all AC21 members in early October. Major changes from the last year are:

- Applicant eligibility is specified: it is limited to academic staff/faculty members of the AC21 member universities.

- The number of the proposals to be awarded is increased up to three

We look forward to receiving many inspiring applications that will enhance the AC21 research collaboration.

2) AC21 Newsletter to be issued in October

This October issue will be the 20th edition of our biannual Newsletter, featuring articles by students on the Student World Forum 2015 held in Strasbourg.

The AC21 Newsletter will be released only electronically from this upcoming issue onwards.

They will be available for download in PDF with a clickable table of contents from the AC21 website:

3) AC21 International Forum 2016 to be held in Chemnitz, Germany

The AC21 International Forum (IF) 2016 will be hosted by the Technische Universität Chemnitz from April 30 to May 3, 2016, with the theme "Chains of Innovation for Changing Science and Society".

In addition to the theme-related sessions and workshops, a workshop in which our member institutions' vice-presidents for research will assemble and discuss potential research collaboration between AC21 members is also planned to be organized as part of the IF 2016.

One of special attributes of the IF 2016 is that the forum is scheduled to be held in the week commemorating the jubilee, as 2016 marks the 180th anniversary of the TU Chemnitz which was founded in 1836.

Thank you for your continued support of AC21 and its activities.

If you would like to share news or events with the other members through this Monthly Report, please send them to the AC21 General Secretariat at office@ac21.org.

Warm regards,

AC21 General Secretariat
