Monthly Report No.71 (June 20, 2016)
Dear AC21 members,
Greetings from the AC21 General Secretariat!
There is not much news or updates this month, so here are a few quick information to share with you.
1) Eighth AC21-TUC NAFSA Working Breakfast 2016
AC21-TUC NAFSA Working Breakfast, an annual gathering organized by Technische Universität Chemnitz coinciding with the NAFSA, took place in Denver, Colorado, USA on May 31. Thanks to the commitment and initiative of colleagues at TU Chemnitz, the event was already in its eight year, and this year it had approximately 15 participants from both within and outside the AC21 network.
The participating AC21 members were the University of Adelaide, TU Chemnitz, University of Freiburg, Jilin University, Nagoya University, North Carolina State University, and University of Strasbourg.
At the meeting, two presentations were delivered by TU Chemnitz: one regarding the overview and highlights of the AC21 International Forum 2016 held this spring, and the other about the latest topics in lightweight materials technologies on which the AC21 International Graduate School 2019 to be hosted by TU Chemnitz was expected to focus as its theme.
2) New SPF Guidelines and Criteria to apply from 2017 round
Based on the decisions made at the Steering Committee Meeting and General Assembly at Chemnitz, we have drafted revised versions of SPF Guidelines and Review Criteria, which also led to the revision of the scoring method. They will be sent out soon to STC members for confirmation and feedback for minor adjustments.
The new standards will be applied from the SPF 2017.
3) AC21 Steering Committee (STC) Meeting open for STC members only
We would like to announce that the AC21 STC Meeting 2017 at Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia will be held only for STC members, in order to streamline the relevant arrangements and costs, and facilitate effective discussion at the Meeting.
Furthermore, from 2017 onwards, the STC Meeting will be held not only as a closed meeting exclusively for STC members, but also on a "paperless" basis, from the perspectives of time- and cost-efficiencies, as well as of eco-friendliness.
Thank you for your continued support of AC21 and its activities.
