Monthly Report No.81(May 24, 2017)

Dear AC21 members,

Greetings from the AC21 General Secretariat!

Here are some updates and news to share with you.

1) Chemnitz to organize AC21 Network Meeting at Los Angeles

We are approaching the season of the NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo in which many colleagues from AC21 member universities participate, and here is an invitation to and program for the AC21 Network Meeting:

http://www.ac21.org/english/activities/other/ac21_network_meeting/

AC21 Network Meeting, formerly known as the AC21 Working Breakfast, is an opportunity offered by Chemnitz University of Technology for AC21 members attending NAFSA to meet and exchange views and information with each other. It coincides with NAFSA to make the most of AC21 members' participation in the Conference.

This year, the AC21 Network Meeting will be held in the morning of May 30, 2017 at the Standard Hotel, LA.

For any further information, please contact Chemnitz University of Technology.

2) AC21 Student Mobility

As discussed at the STC Meeting and General Assembly last year at Chemnitz, Germany, the University of Adelaide has prepared a form to collect information from each AC21 university regarding its student mobility opportunities. The General Secretariat will soon circulate the form within the AC21 network, and information collected will be provided on our website.

3) Updates on AC21 International Graduate School (IGS) 2017 at Gadjah Mada University

The IGS 2017 will be hosted by Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, from July 11 to 15, 2017, with the theme "Community and Indigenous-based Technology for Sustainable Development towards Resilience Society".

According to Gadjah Mada University, there are a total of 49 participating students from 11 AC21 institutions (as of May 9), and a few more participants are expected to be nominated by Chulalongkorn University, which means more than 50 graduate students with various backgrounds will get together at Gadjah Mada in July.

For any questions or details, please contact Gadjah Mada University at < ac21@ugm.ac.id >

3) Steering Committee (STC) Meeting 2017

The AC21 STC Meeting 2017 at Gadjah Mada University is scheduled on July 10, 2017, one day before the start of the IGS 2017.

We would also like to remind you that the AC21 STC Meeting 2017 at Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia will be held only for STC members, in order to streamline the relevant arrangements and costs, and facilitate effective discussion at the Meeting.

Furthermore, from 2017 onwards, the STC Meeting will be held not only as a closed meeting exclusively for STC members, but also on a "paperless" basis, from the perspectives of time- and cost-efficiencies, as well as of eco-friendliness. STC Meeting attendees are advised to bring their own laptops.

Thank you for your continued support of AC21 and its activities.
