Monthly Report No.84 (September 25, 2017)
Dear AC21 members,
Greetings from the AC21 General Secretariat!
Summer has almost ended in Japan. During a month-long summer hiatus in publication of this Monthly Report, we worked on revising the Special Project Fund (SPF) Guidelines, preparing the next issue of AC21 Newsletter and so on.
We are happy to share with you news and updates.
1) Number of SPF awards to be enlarged
At the AC21 STC Meeting 2018 held in July at Gadjah Mada University, it was discussed and agreed upon that the number of Special Project Fund (SPF) recipients should be expanded to a maximum of five per year, on the condition that the AC21 STC responsible for the SPF review considered the proposals achieved high standards of quality in research and other factors in evaluation criteria. We have revised the number of SPF awards information in the Guidelines accordingly. A finalized version pf SPF Guidelines for the 2018 round will be sent out to AC21 members in early October.
2) Steering Committee (STC) Skype meeting
Also at the STC Meeting 2018, it was decided that conducting a Skype STC meeting every three months. This will be on a trial basis to see whether or not having additional STC meetings over skype is necessary and effective for the AC21's decision making. The first STC Skype meeting will be held on October 11 from 19:00-20:00 JST.
3) AC21 Newsletter Vol 24 to be issued soon
The next issue of the Newsletter will feature the International Graduate School 2017 hosted by Gadjah Mada University, with articles and pictures contributed by colleagues at Gadjah Mada and participating students from our member universities. It will also contain the information on the next year's International Forum to be organized by Jilin University, the SPF 2017 awardees, and more.
Thank you for your continued support of AC21 and its activities.
