Publications & Resources

Over 21 years, the AC21 consortium produced a substantial body of published material: 32 newsletter volumes, 114 monthly reports, conference proceedings from eleven International Forums, and final reports from over 80 Special Project Fund grants. Much of this material was originally distributed in PDF format through the consortium's website and internal mailing lists. Following the dissolution of AC21 in March 2023, the Legacy Fund has undertaken to preserve and, where possible, make accessible this documentary record.

Newsletter Archive

The Newsletter archive contains summaries of all 32 volumes published between 2003 and 2022. The newsletters served as the consortium's primary communication channel with its broader community — covering upcoming events, SPF final reports, member university news, and editorial commentary on trends in international higher education. Original PDF files are no longer hosted online, but the archive provides volume-by-volume descriptions of their contents.

Forum Proceedings

Each of the eleven International Forums produced formal proceedings, typically comprising keynote transcripts, session summaries, and the Forum Action Plan (from the 5th Forum onwards). The proceedings from the 4th Forum (Adelaide, 2008) and the 7th Forum (Freiburg, 2014) were the most widely cited in external literature. Researchers interested in forum proceedings can find detailed descriptions on the International Forum page.

Research and External Resources

For those conducting research on international academic cooperation, university networks, or comparative higher education policy, we recommend Google Scholar for locating academic publications that reference AC21 activities and programmes. ResearchGate hosts profiles of many researchers who participated in AC21-funded projects and may have uploaded working papers or preprints from SPF-funded research.

This publications section will be expanded as additional archival material is processed and described. For background on the consortium itself, see about the AC21 project.
