Monthly Report No.19 (Jan. 18, 2011)

Dear AC21 Members,

Happy New Year and Best Wishes for 2011!
This is a regular mail out from the AC21 General Secretariat to update all AC21 Member Institutions and partners on recent events for the AC21.
We have some great news to relay to members.  We are happy to announce that there has been a proposal to host the 2014 International Forum by Stellenbosch University in South Africa.  As one of our newest members, we think this is a wonderful opportunity for all members to become acquainted with our only African member and offering us all a chance to learn more about higher education in South Africa.
If your institution was planning on submitting a proposal to host the IF, we ask that all institutions hand in their proposals by the end of January in order to be considered.  We will be asking Stellenbosch University to make a short presentation at the next Steering Committee Meeting in Thailand in May outlining in detail their proposal and tentative conference theme.

The deadline for the student applications for the 4th AC21 Student World Forum is February 1st.  We hope that all institutions will be able to send two students in order to take full advantage of this unique opportunity to study sustainable agriculture from an Asian perspective.  Any queries can be sent directly to the AC21 Student World Forum email address at Chulalongkorn University at: ac21swf@mail.eng.chula.ac.th

If you have not submitted your online postal questionnaire, please do so as soon as possible so that we may gain a better understanding of the wishes of all of our members.  We will be reporting the results at the next Steering Committee Meeting and will hope to make some final decisions regarding a few of the issues.

Check out our new FACEBOOK page. The FACEBOOK page is registered as a non-profit group “Academic Consortium21” and registered under `Sheri L. Yasue`.  All content is public and easily accessible.  Please let me know if you are having trouble accessing the page.

The Special Project Fund Information has also been added to our webpage.  Please direct any interested parties to our AC21 site.  ★Don’t forget that the application deadline is Monday, February 28.

Thank you and I look forward to meeting many of you in the New Year.
