Monthly Report No.55 (November 29, 2014)
Dear AC21 Members,
Thank you very much for your continued support of AC21 and its activities.
The following are updates and some recent news from AC21.
1. Sixth AC21 Student World Forum (SWF) 2015 to be hosted by University of Strasbourg and University of Freiburg
The deadline for application submission for the Student World Forum (SWF) 2015 is December 15, 2014. The SWF 2015 will be hosted by the University of Strasbourg (Strasbourg, France) and the University of Freiburg (Freiburg, Germany) from April 19 - 24, 2015. The main theme of the SWF 2015 will be “The European Experience in Local and Regional Democracy.” The announcement of the SWF 2015 has already been sent from the University of Strasbourg to the AC21 Communicators of all member universities.

2. 13th AC21 Steering Committee (STC) Meeting
The 13th AC21 Steering Committee (STC) Meeting, to be hosted by the University of Freiburg, will be held on April 23 and 24, 2015 in Freiburg, Germany. Please mark your calendar with these important dates! Invitations to the meeting have already been emailed to STC members. Non-STC members are welcome to attend the meeting as observers. Please send back the “Reply Forms” regarding the Meeting to the AC21 General Secretariat by December 19, 2014.
3. AC21 Special Project Fund (SPF) 2015
As we informed you in our previous monthly report (No. 54), the deadline for submitting applications for the AC21 Special Project Fund (SPF) 2015 is January 31, 2015. This fund is designed to promote collaborative research and educational exchange between AC21 members. The guidelines for the AC21 SPF (revised edition, October 2014) were sent to the AC21 Communicators of all member universities on October 2, 2014. The application form can be found on the last three pages of the guidelines. We hope that the faculty, staff and students of member universities will make the most of this opportunity!
4. “United Nations Day” at Nagoya University
As we informed you in the last monthly report (No. 54), the AC21-sponsored “United Nations (UN) Day Event” was held at Nagoya University on October 21, 2014. You can now view the photos of the event at the link below.
As one of the members of United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), AC21 received a request to organize an event initiated mainly by students, from the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Japan, a point of contact for UNAI in Japan. The Graduate School of International Development (GSID) and the Women Leaders Program to Promote Well-being, Nagoya University, where the AC21 General Secretariat is based, organized the event and AC21 sponsored it. The title of the event was “Achieving Well-being for All Beyond 2015.”
5. AC21 Newsletter
Volume 18 of the AC21 Newsletter should have arrived at your universities. We would appreciate it if you could distribute this Newsletter to the appropriate recipients to keep them informed of AC21 news and its activities. The Newsletter may also be viewed online at the link below.
